We will also be hosting welcome drinks by the pool at our venue on Friday 01 August starting around 7pm. There will be further details of timings on the formal invitation, which you will receive by post.

The address of the venue is:

Getting there from Ireland

There are various ways by which travel to the venue.

The closest airport is Marseille Provence Airport or Aéroport de Marseille Provence which is located 27 km (17 miles) northwest of Marseilles. There is direct and easy access onto the motorway, so no need to drive through the city. The drive to the venue is uncomplicated and takes around 45 minutes. Car hire from a variety of different companies is available at the airport.

RyanAir operate a direct flight from Dublin to Marseilles on Fridays and Mondays.

Aer lingus operate a direct flight from Dublin to Marseilles on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. A good option if you plan to stay a bit longer.

For those of you who intend to explore the Côte d'Azur and the French Riviera, EasyJet operate a direct flight from Belfast to Nice (it's a 2 and half hour drive from Nice to Lourmarin).

You can of course fly via London where there are several daily flights.

Another option is to fly to Paris CDG (there are direct flights from Belfast with EasyJet). From the airport you can take the TGV (train à grande vitesse or high speed trainto Avignon. The TGV station is conveniently located within the CDG airport (no need to go into the city). The train takes 2 hours 40 minutes to reach Avignon TGV station.

The train is very comfortable, you can stretch out, walk around, enjoy a petite déjeuner whilst taking in the French countryside or have a snooze before reaching your destination. From Avignon TGV it is a scenic 45 minute drive to Lourmarin and you can hire cars from the station*.
*Note when booking a car that it is from Avignon TGV not Avignon Central.

Getting there from London

There are many flight options from London airports to Marseille, Avignon, Nimes or Montpellier. The closest airport is Marseille Provence Airport or Aéroport de Marseille Provence and is located 27 km (17 miles) northwest of Marseille. There is direct and easy access onto the motorway (so no need to drive through the city). It takes around 45 minutes to drive to the venue. Car hire from a variety of different companies is available at the airport.

British Airways operate direct flights from Heathrow to Marseille.

EasyJet operate direct flights from Gatwick to Marseille.

Ryanair operate direct flights from Stansted to Marseille.

For those of you who intend to explore the Côte d'Azur and the French Riviera,
flying to Nice is also an option (it's a 2 and half hour drive from Nice to the venue).
A very convenient option is the direct Eurostar train from London to Avignon that takes about 6 hours. This is a special service which runs only in the summer months.

The trains are very comfortable, you can stretch out, walk around, enjoy a petite déjeuner whilst taking in the French countryside or have a snooze before reaching your destination. From Avignon TGV it is a scenic 45 minute drive to Lourmarin and you can hire cars from the station*.

You also have the option of taking the Eurostar train to Lille and then the TGV (train à grande vitesse or high speed train) to Avignon or Aix en Provence.  You can also Eurostar to Paris but then you have to change station rather than just the platform as at Lille.

*Note when booking a car that it is from Avignon TGV not Avignon Central.

Accommodation

Lourmarin is one of 'Les Plus Beaux Villages de France'
- one of the most beautiful villages of France!

Lourmarin is typically Provençal, seemingly untouched by time with its winding cobbled streets and sun baked buildings. It has a buzzing café culture and you can easily spend an afternoon on one of the many terraces or pavement cafés drinking a cool 'pastis' and doing some serious people watching!

The village is surrounded by vineyards, olive and almond groves. It has an abundance of restaurants, tiny art galleries and boutiques to explore and it is overlooked by a spectacular chateau with its own wine 'cave'.

We would love that all our guests have accommodation in this charming village as it really has such a special atmosphere. We know this can be difficult as things do book up very quickly especially in summer. We therefore advise booking as early as possible.

Here are some recommendations…

Hotel Moulin

Hotel Moulin is situated in the very heart of the village, amongst the tiny streets. From the bedrooms there are charming views over the village rooftops on one side and the  chateau on the other. There is a lovely, airy restaurant on the ground floor and a large sunny terrace for breakfast.

This hotel is a very handy 5 minute walk from the venue, so super easy to get home in your high heels!

There are however only 19 rooms (17 bedrooms and 2 suites). We have managed to block book 10 of them until the end of March. To book you should call or email the hotel directly, (ie. not through booking.com or other such engines) and mention our names.

*Note we have reserved 10 mid range rooms but do ask the hotel about others if you want  smaller or larger rooms/suites.

Hotel Bastide

Hotel Bastide is also located a 5 minute walk away from our venue. The rooms are all creatively and individually decorated and some have private terraces overlooking the village and chateau. There is private parking and a swimming pool.

Hotel Bastide also has 19 rooms (of which 4 are suites). We have managed to secure 15 rooms here for our guests to book by the end of March. Again please call or email directly, mentioning our names.

*Note we have again reserved mid range rooms but do ask the hotel about others if you want smaller or larger rooms/suites.

Other hotels and guest houses

Stéphanie, our wedding planner has given us a list of other hotels and guest houses in Lourmarin. They are in, or very close to the village and so will also book up very quickly.

Le mas des Guilles

La maison Rose

La bastide aux Oiseaux

Les Oliviers

Villa Saint Louis

If you should find any other great accommodation options, please do share with fellow wedding bloggers!

More options

There are many other charming villages nearby, should you prefer not to stay in Lourmarin itself. Many are typically Provençal and have spectacular views over lavender fields and vineyards. Some of the most beautiful are Ansouis, Bonnieux and Gordes.

*Please note taxis are difficult to come by in these small villages and can be very expensive. Bear this in mind when choosing the location of your accommodation.

If you are more city inclined, Aix-en-Provence is wonderful! Known as the Paris of the south it is so charming with its many piazzas, meandering cobbled streets and fountains. The boutiques and cafes in Aix are elegant and atmospheric and there are lots of hotels to choose from. Aix is a 40 minute drive from Lourmarin and is less than half an hour from Marseilles airport.
